I'm Naomi. I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, who trained as a therapist at post-graduate level in Melbourne, Australia. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in marketing and branding for start up businesses. I identify as LGBTQIA + and use shey/they pronouns.
My experience includes working as a psychotherapist for MIND, a university campus counsellor and a crisis line telephone counsellor. I also have extensive training in working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Most recently, I have worked with people navigating life, change and loss throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently I work in private practice in Shoreditch and via zoom.
the one person who will never leave us, whom we will never lose, is ourself
Therapy with Me
First and foremost, I aim to create a friendly, warm space where clients feel safe and able to open up. I'm aware that therapy can be a daunting prospect, so I will ease you into the process as much as I can. I won't probe you with questions, and nor will I sit silently making notes, instead we will collaborate to find our own rhythm and way of working.
I provide clients with tools to allow them to deal with the challenges that life can bring. This may be learning how to manage diagnosis of adhd, dealing with challenging interpersonal relationships, alleviating social anxiety, or coping with feelings of low mood.
The therapy space can also be used to process past experiences and perhaps thinking of how to grow from them in the future.
I hope to create an environment where you can be yourself, however that unfolds, which may help you to understand yourself better, and in turn help channel your energy towards creating a life which is fulfilling for you.
Type of Therapy
I'm an integrative therapist, which means I draw on several modalities, depending on client preference and what feels a natural fit for a client.
This may include person-centred, compassion-focussed, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic, attachment, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and existential approaches.
Themes I work with include interpersonal relationships, grief, trauma, anxiety and depression. I have extensive experience working with young adults, as well as GSRD (Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity). I am also trained in psycho-sexual therapy and currently training in trauma therapy.
Where appropriate, I also bring my experience as a mindfulness meditation teacher into the room.
What will my first session be like?
I don't have a formal structure or assessment process, however I may ask things like what is bringing you to therapy now and if you have any goals for therapy. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers - we can think about these topics together.
After this session, I suggest you have a think about if you would like to book in for regular therapy and let me know in a couple of days.
Currently available for zoom and in-person sessions (Shoreditch) Monday - Friday.
Standard fee is £80 per session, however a sliding scale starting at £50 per session is available for students, key workers and people on low-income.
Available for long or short term therapy.
I'd love to hear from you. Get in touch and we can organise a quick call and take it from there.
