TRAUMA THERAPY
I'm Naomi Twigden, an integrative psychotherapist offering trauma therapy in person on Brick Lane (in East London), and online (via zoom).
Trauma can be defined as an emotional and psychological response to a deeply distressing, frightening, or overwhelming event that exceeds a person’s ability to cope (British Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors). If you are struggling to 'get over something', or are living with flashbacks, dissociation, or a sense that the world is not safe, you might be experiencing trauma. I can provide a warm, collaborative space where we can start to make sense of it, at a pace that works for you. I want to highlight that it is not important or necessary for you to share with me details of what you have been through, for trauma therapy to help.
What trauma can feel like
Sometimes it isn't clear. You might struggle to regulate your emotions, feel triggered or overwhelmed by things that see small, feel far away from yourself, or carry a lot of shame. You might find it hard to connect with other people and feel you are on survival mode to just get through each day. These are understandable responses to difficult experiences.
How I work
As a level 7 diploma certified trauma therapist, I work with undiagnosed trauma as well as diagnosed PTSD and C-PTSD. I typically start with psycho-education and mind-body awareness. I will teach you tools help you become aware of and regulate your emotions so you can feel calm and connected with your body. We will also learn what your triggers are and where they have come from. I will use evidence-based therapies such asEmotional Freedom Technique (tapping) and Trauma-Focussed CBT and Cognitive Processing to remove the charge of your trauma so it is no longer a debilitating part of your experience, but something that is integrated into your history.
My training
As well as holding a distinction in trauma therapy (level 7) I am also a certified psychosexual therapist and registered member of the BACP. I have also worked extensively in the lGBTQIA+ space and with young adults.

Email me or enquire on my website to arrange a free 15 minute introductory call, where I can answer any questions you may have about therapy. We can see if it feels like a good fit and whether our schedules align.
If we proceed, we can find a regular weekly or fortnightly time to have therapy. I also have a few open slots of your schedule requires flexibility.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and they are either in person at my practice on Brick Lane or via zoom.
Fees for in person therapy are £85. Online therapy is available on a sliding scale between £70 and £85 dependent on your individual circumstances.
Do i need a diagnosis to start trauma therapy?
Not at all, but we can look at whether you meet the criteria for a diagnosis of PTSD or C-PTSD together.
Is trauma therapy more effective in person?
No, both online and in person therapy sessions are effective.
Do I need to tell you about my traumatic experience straight away?
It is not necessary for me to know about your experience for the therapy to work. You can tell me when you feel you know me better, or not at all.
