IDENTITY AND LGBTQIA+ THERAPY
As a psychotherapist I have years of experience working with themes of GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diversity) and with LGBTQIA+ individuals. I use she/they pronouns myself and identify as LGBTQIA+. This includes working as a psychotherapist for RainbowMIND and as a therapist for Switchboard Melbourne, an LGBTQIA+ crisis telephone line. Themes I commonly work with include questioning of one's gender or sexuality, difficult family dynamics following "coming out", shame, confusion, social anxiety, navigating non-monogamy, struggling with acceptance of an IGBTQIA+ identity, queer parenting (and routes to parenthood), transitioning to parenthood, questioning one's identity following a diagnosis of neurodiversity and managing neurodiversity in a relationship.
GSRD refers to anyone who may not feel they follow the conventional script in terms of their gender, sexuality or relationship. It can be difficult to follow, or figure out, your own instinct of who you are in our heteronormative, binary society. I provide a safe space where we can explore these topics together, in the context of the current political climate. I avoid assumptions of normatively in my therapy space and will seek to help you feel more comfortable and affirmed in yourself. I am also a certified psychosexual and trauma therapist so work with overlapping themes including sexual trauma, attraction and kink.
My approach is integrative and flexible to suit your needs. Some clients prefer I speak up more, and help them figure things out in a more active way, others prefer I listen and reflect but give them space to figure things out for themselves. I know therapy can be daunting, and these topics can feel very personal or overwhelming, so I will do my best to make the space feel safe for you, and help you feel more comfortable and assured in yourself.
Email me or enquire on my website to arrange a free 15 minute introductory call, where I can answer any questions you may have about therapy. We can see if it feels like a good fit and whether our schedules align. If we proceed, we can find a regular weekly or fortnightly time. Sessions are 50 minutes long and are either in person at The Therapeutic Rooms, Taylor's Yard, 170 Brick Lane, E1 6RU or via Zoom. Fees for in person therapy are £85. Online therapy is available on a sliding scale between £70 and £85 dependent on your individual circumstances.
